SKINFOOD Carrot PDRN Pads Review: Hooked or Hyped?
The Hook
Carrot skincare always sounds gentle and wholesome, but toner pads can be tricky.
Some are genuinely helpful, while others are basically a cute way to apply watery toner.
These caught our attention because the ingredient list goes beyond basic hydration.
Alongside carrot extract, the formula includes niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, allantoin,
squalane, and Sodium DNA, also known as PDRN.
So the question is: are these actually useful in a routine, or are they just riding the PDRN hype?
Ingredient Reality Check
What it’s heavy on
This is primarily a hydrating, soothing, and barrier-supportive formula. The base includes
glycerin, butylene glycol, sodium hyaluronate, trehalose, hydroxyethyl urea, and allantoin.
The addition of niacinamide gives the formula a brightening and barrier-support angle, while
squalane helps make the hydration feel more comfortable and less temporary.
The PDRN question
The formula does include Sodium DNA, which is the PDRN-related ingredient. However, it appears
low on the ingredient list, so we would not buy this product solely for the PDRN.
Here, PDRN feels more like a bonus ingredient than the main reason the product works.
What We Noticed
Hydration
The hydration profile is strong. This is not just a watery toner pad. It has enough humectants
to make the skin feel refreshed, but also enough supporting ingredients to make the comfort last
longer than a basic hydration-only pad.
Soothing
Allantoin, carrot extract, squalane, and dipotassium glycyrrhizate make this feel like a calming
step, especially when skin feels dry, tight, or a little stressed.
Layering
These should layer well under serums and moisturizers. They are best used after cleansing and
before treatment serums or cream.
Routine Impact
This is where the product becomes more interesting. A lot of toner pads are easy to skip because
they do not change the routine much. These have more purpose. They add hydration, comfort, and light barrier support in one easy step. If your skin often feels dehydrated or dull, this could be a useful addition. I love to let these sit on my face more like a sheet mask, and notice a difference immediately!
Can You Skip It?
Maybe. But don’t!
If you already use a hydrating toner, soothing essence, and barrier-supportive moisturizer, this
may not be necessary. But I really love the soothing and gentle nature of this toner, and I really think you will too!
If your routine is missing a calming hydration step, these pads make sense.
Skip risk: Don’t skip. You can live without them, but they do add noticeable routine value.
Final Verdict
The PDRN is not the main reason we like these. The real strength is the overall formula:
hydration, soothing support, niacinamide, squalane, allantoin, and carrot-derived ingredients.
They are not a dramatic treatment product, but they are a very solid daily support step.
