Dry
Dry, high-altitude Colorado
Nightly microneedling + layered routine
Two full-sized bottles (2 oz each)
There’s no shortage of hype surrounding the S.NATURE Aqua Squalane Moisturizing Cream. With squalane positioned as the hero ingredient and thousands of positive reviews backing it, expectations are understandably high. I was especially optimistic. I have dry skin, live in a very dry climate, and microneedle nightly — a routine that demands hydration and barrier support. Unfortunately, this product didn’t live up to the promise. Not bad. Not irritating. Just underwhelming.
Flat
This is a humectant-heavy formula. It contains: • Squalane (~15%) — an emollient that softens and smooths • Nine!! forms of hyaluronic acid • Glycerin, panthenol, betaine, allantoin, peptides, and adenosine What it lacks are meaningful occlusive or barrier-repair ingredients, such as ceramides, cholesterol, shea butter, petrolatum, or silicone-based sealants. Why that matters: Humectant-heavy formulas rely on available water — and without enough environmental humidity or occlusive ingredients, hydration doesn’t last. In dry, high-altitude environments, this distinction becomes especially noticeable. Industry Nuance: The “Dirty Word” Conversation Occlusives like petrolatum and silicones are often treated as “dirty words” in the cosmetic world. In reality, they’re simply moisture-sealing tools — and for dry or barrier-compromised skin, they can be essential. That said, I want to be clear: I used this cream alongside other products in my routine that do contain occlusive agents, and its contribution still felt negligible. When I removed it entirely, my skin didn’t feel drier, less comfortable, or less supported.
• If I removed it: No noticeable change • Does it earn a step? No • Why: Even within a barrier-supportive routine, it didn’t meaningfully enhance results
✅ SKIP IT Skip Risk: Low for dry skin in dry climates; higher for oily skin or humid environments Ingredient Transparency- The squalane used in this formula is confirmed to be plant-based, which aligns with modern K- beauty standards. Clearer disclosure on the product page would still be appreciated.
This isn’t a bad moisturizer. It’s gentle, lightweight, and perfectly usable. But after two full-sized bottles, it became clear that it didn’t earn its place in my routine — especially for dry skin in a dry climate or post-procedure care. For the right skin type and environment, it may work well. For mine, it was non-essential. Sometimes the most honest review isn’t about what a product does wrong — it’s about what it doesn’t do at all. Maybe you still want to give this a try, and maybe it will work better for you than it did for me. Here is a link to learn more about it- https://global.oliveyoung.com/if/rd?su=HBU1DFQ6 .
